Documents Necessary To File
This is not an exhaustive list, rather this will change based on the estate's needs.
Decedent and Fiduciary Information:

Certified copy of the death certificate.

Copies of the decedent's will, trust documents, and any prenuptial or buy-sell agreements.

Decedent's SSN, date of birth, date of death, and domicile at the time of death.

Name, address, and SSN/EIN of the executor.

Certified copies of letters of testamentary or administration.

Information on any predeceased spouse (including a copy of their Form 706 if they filed one to elect portability).
Asset and Debt Information:

List of all assets owned by the decedent at the time of death, including real estate, bank accounts, stocks, bonds, business interests, and life insurance policies.

Appraisals or valuation documents for all assets.

List of all debts owed by the decedent (mortgages, credit cards, etc.).

Records of expenses of the estate, such as funeral expenses, medical bills, and administrative costs.
